January 26, 2008 ~ On The Road Again...

Of all the places I thought we could be this weekend Hutchison, KS wasn't on the list. We were off this weekend and had planned on going to PK Lake for the weekend. But the word was that the weather was not going to be good (as in snow, ice, etc... and that was for TX) so Don made the executive decision that we would just hang around OK for the weekend and watch some high school ball. Which we did on Friday. We went to Newcastle for one game, then over to Carl Albert High School in OKC for two more games. At this point, I thought there might still be a chance of going to the lake on Saturday as the weathermen were wrong. But no. As it turned out, there is a juco girl they are trying to recruit that had a game Saturday evening in Hutchison. So we got in the car, drove 4 hours, watched the game and drove back home. Yes, I could have stayed home but look what I would have missed... Who would've thought that Hutchison, KS has the second largest collection of space artifacts in the U.S.?! You just never know what you will see. It's always an adventure and THAT is why I always go.

January 23, 2008 ~ From the top of the bleachers...

Tonight we played Southeastern Oklahoma State University. And I use the term "played" loosely. They played, we watched. At least in the first half. The girls did shoot better in the second half, but still struggled from the free throw line. We are shooting 50% at best. Bottom line is that we lost, again. We are now 1-2 in division play. On the upside, I'm really excited about this picture. I used my Gorillapod tripod that I got for Christmas to take the "self-portrait" AND I learned to blend two photos together. It is of me keeping the legendary possession chart. I chart what happens in each possession of the game for both teams. It looks confusing at first, but once you see how it works it is really pretty interesting. And I like doing it. It gives me sense of accomplishment and I like the way it looks. Weird, I know....

January 20, 2008 ~ Jada and Don

We have been babysitting for some friends of ours, Lee and Mary Akin. They are massage clients of mine, and I worked out w/Mary about this time last year in her boot camp. Some of you may remember me talking about Lee being a professional bull rider and that he was stepped on by a bull last March. He is doing great! Anyway, we keep Jada for them on Sunday evenings while they go to Bible study. As you can tell by the pictures, she loves Don. She is a beautiful little girl. Very petite w/big blue eyes. The only time she sucks her fingers is when she picks up her tiger or blanket.

January 18th, 2008 ~ Trip to Tahlequah, OK

I was talking w/Courtney today and she reminded me that I was going to post a picture every day or two. So I know that I have been lax about posting my daily pictures, but didn't think anyone would notice. Thanks for noticing Courtney. I got creative today and created a collage of pictures from our trip to Tahlequah last week. Tahlequah is in Northeastern Oklahoma and is really kind of pretty. I would like to see it in the spring/summer. The Illinois River is nearby and is a favorite for floating. The pictures are just random ones that I took while driving down the road. Pictures from L to R: Leaving town (East on I-40), Don driving, east of Weatherford, somewhere around El Reno maybe, getting into NE Oklahoma, sign for Lotawatah Rd (not to be confused w/Nowatah, OK and no I'm not kidding), crossing Lake Eufaula (makes me think of James McMurtry's "Choctaw Bingo") and an interesting beam of light during sunset on our way home Saturday evening. As far as the game, unfortunately we lost in the last 45 seconds after leading most of the game. Lost by one 53-54.

Til next time....

From the top of the bleachers...

We played our first game of division last night against East Central University and won 58-52. We are now 10-6 for the year. The team has been playing well the last several games. SWOSU is in the Lone Star Conference, North division. In looking at the LSC website earlier in the week, I noticed that we played the top three teams in the South division all into O.T. And at least one of those teams, West Texas A&M, is nationally ranked. Unfortunately, we lost those three, but they were still great games. We are headed to Tahlequah, OK tomorrow for our game Saturday against Northeastern University. Hopefully we can keep the momentum going. The picture was taken as they were announcing the starting line-up.

Down the street

This picture was taken of the Blair Cabin that is just down the street from our apartment. I have no idea of the history or story behind the cabin. I should probably take the time to read the plaque. I have always liked the mural behind it.I finally learned how to use selective colorization in a photo. I think it turned out pretty cool looking.
