February 9, 2008 ~ Hello Texas!!!

Don had to go to Plainview to watch a potential recruit play and asked if I wanted go with him. I told him he wasn't going to go to Texas without me, even if it was just to the Panhandle. We left early enough so that it could also be a photo op since we would be going through Palo Duro Canyon. The surprise of the trip was in Groom, TX. There is a cross just off the Interstate that is the biggest I've ever seen. Surprisingly enough Don turned around and we made our way to the cross. It wasn't until we pulled up to the cross that we learned it was much more than just a cross. There are bronze statues all over the grounds depicting Jesus in his final hours. It was really amazing. There are 13 of these statues that circle around the bottom of the cross. Each is labeled as a station and each one is Jesus at different points before he is Crucified. The bronzes are very life like. I would like to go back when we can spend a little more time. I will post more of the pictures in a day or two.
